Walking for the Cure for Breast Cancer

Super News - As of May 23, 2014, my 2014 has reached $14,079, or only $2021 short of funding my seventh and last walk, San Diego.  Many thanks to so many for getting me to this point in my fundraising.  You are making a huge, positive impact in the lives of those affected by breast cancer.

Welcome to my website that provides information on why I walk in the "Susan G. Komen 3-day for the Cure" events.  Beginning in 2014, seven walks will be held across the United States to raise funds for research, education and support for those affected by breast cancer.

The 2013 3-day event season was another amazing season as I was blessed to walk in six of the fourteen events, including: San Francisco, Boston, Washington, D.C., Dallas, Arizona and San Diego. Although the number of walkers was down in many of the cities, the focus and determination to make a difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer was as strong as ever. To be a part of this special community is truly a privilege and one that I cherish dearly.

Although I had originally planned on walking in just three 2014 events, I changed my mind during October 2013 to walking in all seven events.  The reason for this change is February 26, 2014 will be the tenth anniversary of my Mom's death from breast cancer and I want to honor her with this special tribute. All seven of the 2014 cities bring back special memories from 2011, when I walked in them before.

From a fundraising perspective, this will be a challenge as I am required to raise $2300 per walk, totaling $16,100 for all seven. In today's economy, this can be a difficult matter, but I know that with the amazing supporters that I have and some super fundraisers that are in the plans, we will meet this goal together.  I'm excited about the opportunity and the challenge.  I hope you will take this journey with me, for you are the ones that make it all possible.

On my website, you will find information on:Thank you again for spending a few minutes reading about why I, and many others, walk to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer. More importantly, I offer my thanks for helping the many people affected by breast cancer, their families and friends and to the many survivors who are a living testimony to the advancements made in breast cancer research.  All of these people are my heroes as they continue to show their courage, optimism and strength as they deal with breast cancer. For these many people, thank you.
